Manufactured stone veneer is a man-made product crafted from a blend of Portland cement, lightweight aggregates, and iron oxide pigments. This mixture is poured into detailed molds cast from real natural stones to replicate their authentic textures and colors at a fraction of the weight.
Can I install it directly over existing surfaces like drywall or brick?
While it can be applied to various substrates, interior installations on drywall usually require a metal lath and a scratch coat of mortar for proper adhesion. For exterior or masonry surfaces, you must ensure the wall is structurally sound and free of paint or debris before applying the stone with a high-quality mortar.
How does the durability compare to natural stone?
Manufactured veneer is highly durable and often comes with warranties lasting 50 years, though it is more porous and prone to fading from UV exposure than natural stone. Because it is a concrete-based product, it is also more susceptible to damage from harsh chemicals like pool chlorine or de-icing salts.
