I often get this question: "can I install this stone myself?”

Without me knowing how handy they are, my typical answer is, "probably not." That answer goes for the majority of StoneRox products, especially with exterior installation. The reason being is, our mortar-applied products can be a bit challenging, and most require knowledge about certain masonry pattern rules that make the product look its best.

There are also multiple steps needed for exterior installation to make sure it can withstand our harsh weathering and many freeze-thaw cycles. And lastly, the use of mortar to adhere the stone to the wall as well as create aesthetically pleasing mortar joints between the stones can be tedious and difficult if you're not familiar.

One product that removes all these concerns is our screw-on stone system.

It's perfect for the DIYer looking to get that beautiful masonry look without a ton of background installing stone.The stone comes in a panel that is 8”x22.5”, and all pieces will butt up with the next, so there is no need to be concerned about the stone pattern. All you have to do is pick the next stone panel out of the box and screw it on to the substrate through our clip system.

Another benefit of this product is that you don’t need to be concerned about it withstanding our harsh freeze-thaw cycles because the clip system provides built-in drainage.

The clips will keep the stone 10mm away from the wall so any water that penetrates the install will drain down the substrate. Over your plywood, roll over your building wrap (Tyvek, Typar, etc), and then our stone is screwed directly over that.
